[one_half_last]Split-level presents five artists who in their individual arts practices explore concepts around architecture and the built environment; its materials, construction, permanency, value or redundancy. In order to ‘tease-out’ out these themes further, the artists make use of various materials commonly associated with  architecture and construction. A skillful deployment of these materials sees works realized in painting, sculpture and photo-montage, albeit firmly set within a reductive framework. The resulting show is one that considers the temporality of built structures, while simultaneously exposing the desires and memories of place to the physical trace of habitation.
