One Thing After draws on the formalist language of 1960’s Minimalism. A series of site-specific paintings are hung low, close to the gallery’s floor. Some of the works are scaled to reflect the proportions of the human body, and each contains equally divided fields of matte and high gloss black enamel. The mirrored surface reflects the room: its architecture, fixtures and occupants. Suggesting a figurative addition to the monochromes.

Elsewhere the space reveals another gesture. A discreet wall-painting intervenes with the gallery’s architecture, forging a link between the internal and external. The nuanced transformation is responsive to the light conditions; as the sun moves through the sky the hue of the light intensifies and is in turn reflected in the gloss of the paintings.
